Launched in 2016 by the JAMA Network, JAMA Cardiology is a leading journal for clinical investigators, clinicians, and trainees in cardiovascular medicine worldwide. The journal positions itself at the crossroads of clinical investigation, actionable clinical science, and clinical practice, with emphasis on traditional cardiovascular medicine, evolving cardiovascular science, and evidence-based health policy. With a Journal Impact Factor of 14.7, JAMA Cardiology is one of the highest ranking among cardiology journals.

As editor Robert O. Bonow, MD, MS, wrote in a recent Year in Review editorial, “After the unprecedented volume of manuscript submissions in 2020 addressing the COVID-19 pandemic and its cardiovascular complications - with more than 900 COVID-19–related manuscripts submitted to JAMA Cardiology  from March through December that year - life for journal editors slowly returned to normal in 2021, but not completely. We continued to receive a large number of submissions related to COVID-19, many of which provided insights into the evolving cardiovascular sequelae and, notably, the potential complications associated with the new vaccines against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.”

Popular features in JAMA Cardiology include Clinical Trials, Clinical Challenges, Cardiovascular Images, and Diagnostic Test Interpretation. The journal also hosts Author Interview Podcasts featuring conversations between authors and editors on recent articles.
