DynaMed Plus outscored all point-of-care reference competitors, including UpToDate®, for overall product quality in KLAS 2016 CDS report. Again.

With any major purchase or investment in your life it’s important to do your homework. You gather information to educate and empower you to make the right purchasing decision for you, your family and your life. The common factor in these purchases? Quality. This same kind of thought process also happens inside the world of hospitals. Purchasing and investing in tools for doctors to find the right information to help treat and care for patients can be extremely overwhelming. Many of those individuals or teams that are responsible for buying these products follow the same course of action that we do as consumers when faced with a significant purchase.

In conducting “purchasing research,” an important resource that hospitals turn to is KLAS. KLAS is a research firm on a global mission to improve healthcare delivery by enabling providers to be heard and counted. Working with thousands of healthcare professionals and clinicians, KLAS gathers data on software, services, medical equipment and infrastructure systems to deliver timely reports, trends and statistical overviews. On a basic level, KLAS is like Choice Magazine — with assessments, scores and reviews for different product categories. But KLAS takes it further for healthcare professionals. KLAS offers vendor performance information to hospitals and health systems so that they can make the best and most informed decisions and purchase quality tools for their hospitals.

KLAS issued a report in November 2016, Clinical Decision Support 2016: Providers Expect EMRs to Drive CDS Impact. One of the categories the report covered was point-of-care (decision support) tools. DynaMed Plus outscored all point-of-care reference competitors, including UpToDate, for overall product quality. DynaMed Plus® / DynaMed™ received an overall score of 91.9 in the point-of-care Disease/Drug Reference category. DynaMed Plus / DynaMed scored well compared to competitors in questions about Overall Product Quality.

It is the third time that DynaMed has been rated as the top resource for the point-of-care Disease Reference category in the KLAS Clinical Decision Support reports. While this is the first year that DynaMed Plus was considered, the report concluded that evaluation respondents were impressed with the enhancements. “DynaMed Plus is built on the strong DynaMed foundation. Those who use it and those planning to upgrade to it laud its tighter integration with the EMR, updated look and feel, and deeper evidence-based content.”
